Bots have reached a stage where more people are considering them "good enough", and they have fewer drawbacks.
I can't see the downside of this if it at least soothes their lifelong problem without affecting anyone else, but I can see a big list of upsides.
No requirements, no judgement, no betrayal, no schedules, etc. etc.
We're talking about people who are already mostly removed from society, what's the harm in placating their primal needs synthetically? Without this they would just be slightly more miserable and even less likely to become eventually sane. At least this is pseudo practice / exposure.
I rarely even indulge with these things outside of perversion, but even with surface level insight - the pushback against these feels way more insane to me.
