Blaming corporate also does not make sense. People are buying their products in great quantity.
It is best to simply understand that the audience is quite terrible. The "biggest winners" will always be quite poor for this reason. On the other hand, the gaming audience is excellent as it has a fairly sizable chunk that has good taste. This is why it is the only living medium at the moment. But that audience and those products will rarely sell in comparable numbers to the big winners.
