It was repetetive raisin but cunningham was a great special effects guy in the 90s. raisin that AI does now was hard to create back then. Tracking was difficult as fuck. that means the morphing has to stay to the subject without moving even a single frame or it looks fake. he made it look real. when you layer the layered object in Special FX doesn't want to stay in place and moves slightly. its a weird anomaly in early digital Fx
