Currently projecting a rack for my networking and server stuff.
I’m going to custom make it from extruded aluminium profile (pic related), cut it to size and make a structure good enough for a ten inch rack size and a total height of ten rack units (10U), more or less half a metre tall, with some nice sheet metal panel on top and on the sides.
It’s going to house:
>1 router
>1 switch
>1 patch panel
>1 PDU
>1 mini pc for NAS
>4/6 bays for disks for the data
>1 ARM board for home automation
>power supplies to power everything
An extra UPS should go outside, near the rack.
This should cover my needs for my current home plus the new home (the home automation stuff will be exclusive to the new home).
I’m pretty hyped!

>>177926Interesting project, have you made anything similar before?
Would be nice to see a finished picture if it is not too much to ask of course.
Because I am having trouble imagining the final form it can take.

I’ll post a picture of the project I guess, as soon as I finish doing a sketch.

>>178316>Because it’s much cheaper and piedini infected me with his Jewish gene.Fair. That's cool anyway. I wish I had enough computer stuff to justify a rack.

>>182683If she owns the flat the you can make some modifications to the flat or use something like this
https://www.tp-link.com/us/powerline/#what-is-powerlineor get new wireless cards.
Of course the most affordable solution would be using the cable but the modifications should be kept to a minimum if neighbours could complain about the noise of modifications for example, don't know how it is in Spain.

>>178350You know what the nice thing about working in the industry and having the power to order stuff in the hundreds or thousands of euros? Is that people do stuff for you for free.
I contacted a supplier to buy the material for the rack and they simply said
>oh it’s for you? VAT? What’s that? Paying even 1€? What’s that? Just tell us the correct sizes of the freelance and we’ll even cut it for you for free and deliver to your houseThis time, a supplier managed to not be a raging double nigger. Saved some 100 eurobux.

The more power he had in Bethesda, the worse the elder scrolls games started becoming.
But worse is subjective of course.
They became too dumbed down for my tastes but a large portion of consumers loved them.

Just wasted 300 eurobux for the server:
>1x 16 port gb switch
>1x 12 slot patch panel with 12 RJ45 cat6a keystone modules
>1x 10 slot patch panel with USB keystone modules, some unpopulated
>1x 4 socket PDU (a glorified power strip)
>2x panels to cover the wholes on front because it won’t have all the components right away
>3x trays for putting things on them
>4x 10U rack rails for fixing the components and trays
I still need
>1x router because my current one is ancient dograisin
>1x SBC (raspberry pi or equivalent) for the home automation
>1x mini PC for the NAS because the current one is slower than most smartwatches today kek
>1x UPS
Me at 2am making sure I wasn’t overpaying, server stuff is expensive.
