Well the landlock mostly fucks up our economy but it doesn't really affect anything else, people go to the big lakes or rivers if they want to vacation near water.
>Also how's the weather there nowA weird mix of cloudy and sunny now, heavily windy. I'm guessing it is gonna rain or snow soon, and it's 16c. So I guess normal conditions
β146198[Quote]
>>146105I see. It's accurate for me. Maybe it depends on your country.
>>146122>the landlock mostly fucks up our economyI read an article recently about Trump's tariffs and it mentioned comparative advantage. The idea, I think, is that different countries have different advantages, and so have strengths in producing different products and services.
E.g. a landlocked country might have advantages in having certain mineral deposits, or having good skills in a certain sector. Another country might be better at growing corn, for example. Another country might have more oil reserves.
I don't know what Mongolia's unique advantages are, but there probably are some.

>>146198>E.g. a landlocked country might have advantages in having certain mineral deposits, or having good skills in a certain sector. Another country might be better at growing corn, for example. Another country might have more oil reserves.Mongolia has a lot of comparative advantages and natural resources that could develop the nation. But there are a lot of problems. We have to give a large percentage of our trade to China for sea access, and we have to concede a lot of bad deals to China, because we are landlocked. And the current ruling party is corrupt and full of thieves. Good trades can't do anything if the money goes towards a politician's personal pocket or gets used incompetently.
>I don't know what Mongolia's unique advantages are, but there probably are some.I would say it would be livestock-related stuff and raw materials. Mongolian cashmere is exported all around the world to be used in fashion. There are a lot of private companies that are in the business; they employ a good number of people and make livestock herders rich by selling wool. We could export more livestock-related stuff, if things get better with our technology, standards and industry.
And big foreign companies have set up mines here, and they employ a lot of people and pay them 1st world salaries, stimulating the economy very well. The biggest example would be Rio Tinto with their mine "Oyu Tolgoi". But as I said, a lot of mines get grabbed up by corrupt politicians or oligarchs.

I always found it weird that 4chan's /pol/ would often defend autocratic corrupt regimes in various countries around the world, calling them "based" etc. I guess it's because such people haven't suffered the bad consequences of corrupt regimes themselves.

Beautiful taiga forests in the northern provinces, lots of green plains and hills. Very mountainous and beautiful in the western provinces, and deserts in the southern provinces.
Generally very good because Mongolia is sparsely populated and urbanisation has not touched the vast countryside, leaving nature to be vast and beautiful.
