GDPNow an unofficial forecast put out by the Atlanta Fed is forecasting a 2025 1st quarter GDP of -2.5

I will post all of the results going back to the 1950s of times of negative and or low quarterly GDP growth for a historical perspective.

>real final sales to private domestic purchases
Keep an eye on this one. It measures private demand in the domestic economy and is the sum of consumer spending and private fixed investment.
So GDP without government investment and all the other bullraisin.

Wealthy consumers upped their spending last quarter, while the rest of America is cutting back.

Lower-income earners are reining in their transactions to focus on essentials, while the wealthy continue to spend freely on perks including dining out and luxury travel, according to first-quarter results from U.S. credit card lenders.

is there any other TRUE cryptocurrency?
every other coin is traded like stock, nobody actually uses them.
monero is the only coin i know of that people actually buy raisin with.

does that even matter when it's the only coin that actually gets used as a currency?

 β„–11980

https://www.privacyguides.org/en/cryptocurrency/
The only criteria I see right now is "Cryptocurrency must provide private/untraceable transactions by default."
It's sad that many cannot meet such a low bar.

Maybe it doesn’t if you’re just trying to buy acid from the dank net.
It does when you can buy more xmr by hodling btc in the long run.

I hate to speak like this but, the market has spoken. β€˜Bitcoin but better’ is a race to the bottom.
If somebody wants to build a better monero, they can. Pretty sure there are dozens to choose from.

I also have to say it… the wannacry virus blackmail schemes have scared off the big players, that don’t want to be associated with extortion.
I’m absolutely certain that’s why musk pumped doge instead of xmr.

When the tariffs have gone into full effect, will we see shortages as we did during covid lockdown? Should I start stockpiling toilet paper?

To keep this /biz/ related, what sorts of inventory items is your business stocking up on to stay ahead of any supply shocks?

That’s what futures markets are for.
The whole point is to buy (long) or sell (short) things in the future at the price they are right now.

 β„–12183

Seems like low end electronic components & plastic/cardboard junk is taking the brunt of the tarrifs.

 β„–12186

>When the tariffs have gone into full effect
Given the backpedaling the admin has been doing I genuinely think they caved to Wall st. and won't actually follow through on any tariff threat.
>will we see shortages as we did during covid lockdown?
I don't personally think so
>Should I start stockpiling toilet paper?
Not a terrible idea to have some on hand. I usually buy in bulk and store a couple weeks worth.

I don't know. Any sort of supplies or anything? Even then, I don't know if Canada will be subject to this as the US is since the Chinese will freely dump their goods on you.

You get turned down for jobs at McDonald’s ..I can tell

 β„–11380

there are plenty of wagejobs out there to make one (barely) survive but there is no real purposeful work out there to make one to thrive. the only other option for young men to make it (it seems) is to gamble. it's the sign of a society without opportunities. the rolemodel for this generation is the crypto rich neet living a quiet and unbothered life. old /biz/ was the headquarter of this crypto-neet idea but with the switch to sojak the board's tone was changed (sign-tapper style) it seems away from gambling (by banning jeets) and again towards more value investor themed assets (which can include solid "meme" coins).
anyways, if real irl work ever comes back this board might die OR actually gave good advice for irl business and entrepreneurs. right now it's stuck somewhere inbetween hence why it's maybe dead in here.
tldr: everybody is waiting out this resession = no business = dead /biz/
