Because we turned them into workers for us. Their social instinct gave us a way in, and all of a sudden we have a pack predator with far sharper senses than us and can thus lead us to quarry far easier. More food hunted, it won't matter if consumption rises a little.

Dogs are an EXACT match. Even different patterns seen in humans are seen in dogs.

Their little doggy brains work exactly the way human brains do. They are like little children that cannot talk or understand things very well, but have very highly attuned senses to make up for their lack of intellect.
