I have a hard time getting into fantasy games, especially open world ones, since everytime I do I wish I was just playing this instead

DD:A has its issues, but it still has a lot of charm attributed to it, and there really isn't anything like it with its combat, party mechanics, and the ability to grapple onto monsters while having a decently sized open world. Can't recommend anything like it, but I can give you some cool stylish fantasy games.
> .Hack ps2 series both the OG and GU have A LOT of charm attributed to them
> Jade Cocoon,PS1 game that basically looks like a Hayao Miyazaki movie, but you're a spear chucker capturing monsters, and plays like Pokemon
>Legend of Dragoon another PS1 game, basically what FF7 should have looked, and played like on release, beautiful pre-rendered cutscenes and extremely stylish
All great games with a grandiose feeling of fantasy. It's not DD:DA but they're all great, and worth a playthrough if you haven't played them yet.

I just want dd:da but with a bigger scope, better story, actual mounts, more enemies, and a not raisin fast travel system. That's literally all that needs to exist to make a perfect fantasy game, and that was not what DD2 was, infact it was worse. How did they drop the ball so hard?

I think the reason it came out half-baked and super fucked is because it was possibly a last minute project, kinda like how Todd teased ES6, but that was 7 years ago. I think they essentially pulled a Todd, and then were possibly expected by investors to release the project after the success of Elden Sneed, and recognition that there was actually a relatively large group of people wanting a hyper fantasy open world game. It's the only thing I can logically think of that led to the game coming out the way it did.

Open world always sucks in the first few hours no matter the game, the moment you get something to do is when they tend to become interesting
If its elder scrolls immediately try joining one of the guilds/great houses/factions and you’ll be good
