>>27389 (OP)Preorders selling out does not mean much desu. The Western market is schizophrenic, very difficult to predict what the ending result will be. Nintendo does not appear to be spending as much on marketing as they did for the Switch (much, much astroturfing) and they have already ruffled some feathers with censorship (Kanon, Nep, etc.) If Sony was smart, they would astroturf massively with both of these examples and then release some extremely lewd game on PS5 uncensored. Ironically, Sony refuses to astroturf to the same degree as others, which will continue to cause them problems.
The more interesting thing is to see what happens next for games. China has raped the Western audience, which is quite funny. Westerners are similar to the Chinese at the moment, obsessed with fitting into some sort of box. As many older gamers feel the need to "identify" with games like FF 6, 7, Xenogears, etc. while disliking JRPGs, it is quite easy to abuse this paradox.
Twitter is quite helpless against this, /v/ is obviously completely bought and sold for whoever is paying at any moment. Youtube etc. is the same. Really, there's no immune system for the West. In contrast, I saw the paid media for E33 in Japan. They essentially mocked the game, but in a fashion that is difficult for EOPs to understand as mockery. A masterclass, Anglos used to do this themselves but they don't care about anything anymore. 5chan is also in a better state. Massive Chinese spam for all of their funded titles, but everyone knows that it is Chinese spam so it just sort of rolls away.
tldr: You can buy the Western audience for a low price, you just have to time it right.
