Alex Mercer was the entire reason the first game was so good.
The way they took his character and hollowed him out in the second game was totally unforgivable.

Something tells me the dev originally wanted him to be the long lasting posterboy but there were other "unknown forces" influenced the development, resulted James Heller to be the new posterboy instead.
