What's the most beginner friendly and fun strategy game?

Age of Empires
Rise of Nations
Company of Heroes
That's about it, everything else has a huge skill barrier like Beyond All Reason

I've seen some games where you control countries and stuff, WW2 games and such. I think it's called grand strategy but looks complicated and the games are expensive. Dune Spice Wars looks interesting imo

I could add any Total War and Stellaris. Strategic games from other subgenre.

Grand strategy is incredibly boring and easy to juke

This looks cool but has bad reviews and is very expensive

EZ, Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Age of Empires 1 is the easiest to play. But it still take some practices to win againts CPU enemy. Plants vs Zombies 1 is also a classic and offers some dumb fun playthrough. I would recommend This War of Mine, too. It is easy for beginners to play and understand the mechanic but it is also rather difficult due to high RNG nuissances.

Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS1 and you can play it for free even in RetroGames.cc without downloading anything

Yeah the new one has bad reviews because it sucks ass. Play the first one.

Hearts of Iron lol.

Empire Earth 1 is pretty good. The old Blitzkrieg games too. I've got a soft spot for the Close Combat games but it can be a little janky. Men of War is fun, and there's mods to import the campaigns from the previous games in the series like Faces of War into it.

Hearts of Iron 3

Svea Rike series from Paradox games. Only the last two games are in English thoughbeit:

They were added to their game bundles when you bought CD packs. This is still the only way to legally acquire EU2 Asia Chapters btw, fuck you GOG niggers.

Alot of people like to roleplay as a politican and influence the livelyhood of their citizens. Stuff like Crusader Kings or Endless Space blew up for that exact reason. It is fun.

It is niche but can be fun if you are really into politic fantasies. I did some tyranny run on Frost Punk and it was a bliss. Child labour, worker abuse, forcing them to eat wood pellets to minimize the expense, just like the good old days.
