First, rhey were only going to do two screenings in a single parisian cinamenand that would be it. Then they switched to several showings in some cinemas all over France (I was personally wishing for public outdoor screenings, as it WAS paid by our taxes, after all but of course we didn't get that).
THEN, it was supposed to be shown on TV, on one of the national channels during the night (this was very quietly announced) but the day before they finally cancelled it due to "technical reasons". Of course, wouldn't want people to watch it for free after already paying for it with their taxes.
Now, again very quietly, it has been announced for a collector bluray edition that should come out this Christmas. I hope we do get it. No word yet regarding the Netflix release despite them being somewhat part of the financing of the movie.
TLDR: Napoleon shouldn't have let them back in France two centuries ago.
