I want to try other Linux distros, but I can't seem to give up on Linux Mint because one thing I look for in Linux distros is the thing working right out of the box.
Are there any other Linux distros like Mint?

 β„–9246[Quote]

Install Arch, run archinstall and you're golden.

 β„–9251[Quote]

Install gentoo

Mint is actually one of the worst distros. It's for winfaggots who want to brag they use linux but don't actually get raisin done.

The only worthwhile distros are:
>Ubuntu
>Fedora
>Suse

>one thing I look for in Linux distros is the thing working right out of the box
This is an extremely stupid criterion and you are needlessly handicapping yourself. Why does it matter if the distro requires a couple of hours to set up and install if you're going to be using that installation for years?

Fair enough. Though admittedly I prefer the Windows like layout of Cinnamon so is Ubuntu Cinnamon oddly enough perfect for me or should I try a different flavour of Ubuntu?

I enjoy arch a lot but I don't like pacman. I feel like other package managers have a comfier CLI

 β„–9265[Quote]

just use yay

 β„–9273[Quote]

>>9246
Not OP, but I'm in a similar situation of thinking of trying other distros. Is Arch + archinstall unironically that easy? I don't mind getting my hands dirty with the OS, but only when I want to and not because I'm trying to fix some basic raisin that should work but doesn't because my RAM model has serial number #5303 instead of #5302

Arch is great until it breaks after an update, they test in production

Try SpiralLinux, it's Debian that is better suited for desktops by default, and has rollbacks like openSUSE and Linux Mint do

>>9251
Unironically a very stable distro, but it seriously could use a binary emphasis like Arch. I genuinely believe ebuilds are easier and more flexible than PKGBUILDs and that Gentoo could become a true Arch alternative if everything was pre-compiled (I didn't check if it is nowadays)

>>9253
Fedora loves to break something after a major update that you have to go in and manually fix, the forced restarts for updates and waiting for that to finish also feels terrible and is akin to Windows 11

There's two distros: Arch and Debian. And then there's the mental illnesses.

tried but damn takes a fuckload of time. and electricity.

pretty much this. everything else are these two but themed. and a few other irrelevant ones

 β„–9406[Quote]

there is no reason to be using X11 in 2025 after NVIDIA drivers got uncucked last year

use arch via archinstall, but if you're too lazy for that install endeavouros

 β„–9419[Quote]

linuxtroons hate doing useful work. they literally want to switch to a new distro just so they have to spend all day installing it

arch was always just a regular linux distro without an installer, which you now get. its arguably even easier because you can avoid dograisin like snap, flakpak and ppas

 β„–9493[Quote]

its just a TUI variant of the Calamares installer, basically

Mint is based on Ubuntu which is based on Debian.
Just go back up the family tree and see which one you like best. All three are pretty beginner friendly.
