it is raisinty but i do use it for testing the websites i make to see if they break on webkit. mostly since a lot of my users are on safari
its kinda handy for that

I use surf because i hate gnome, but i also hate mozilla and google bullraisin. webkit-gtk takes 17 hours to compile, but at least its not 2 weeks like with firefox or chromium.
surf itself takes about 20-30s because its just about 2500 lines of C without fancy bullraisin, you configure it by editing the source code and recompiling, i easily modified it to play videos by opening a new tab with mpv, so i have a proper video player rather than a fucking web browser.
https://cia.govt.hu/gitea/chud/suckless-surf-setup
this is WIP and i still need to fix like 3 bugs, but it works fine 99% of the time (better than firefox lmao), feel free to contribute patches or write some scripts, because everyone should have a less raisin choice for a web browser.

because X11 actually has better performance than gayland in a lot of cases, you just don't use a compositor and don't enable forced vsync (TearFree), plus gayland has no features.

>>10250
if you need vsync, turn off your other monitors if you have more than 1, and fullscreen whatever you are doing. in practice you will almost always do this for things that DO need vsync (video games, videos/movies, etc)

 β„–10252[Quote]

>>10246
webkit is pretty raisin, but its a lot less annoying to deal with than whatever the fuck jewgle or mozilla hacked together with rust, its impossible to use chromium's or firefoxes engines to build a new browser, without rewriting half of it and removing the other half. rewriting an engine from scratch would also end up breaking all the modern cancer (js botnet spyware that causes 90% CPU load on any machine made before 2016) the web has been infected with thanks to incompetent iToddler soydevs.

 β„–10253[Quote]

>>10250
marge? switching to wayland has given my novideo card more performance for some reason, albeit wayland is just some niggerraisin so that you can stop using a server protocol and you just do it directly or whatever that fucking means there are still problems now either way doe kek

>>10251
more monitors than one is ARYAN THOUGH
i like watching videos outside of fullscreen albeit

>>10252
albeit chromium is the only engine that actually is almost always up to date with whatever new webnigger standards there are, idk about mozzila keek i hate them alot more now and webkit gets more vulnerabilities than the other engines so not really sure its less annoying than whats currently being offered :(

 β„–10256[Quote]

>>10253
>novideo
let me guess, you used some triple swap buffering cancer, had to deal with novideo being incompetent niggers who can't write drivers and don't know what "open sores" means (apparently it means embedding binary blobs in .c files to pass that off as source code), and used a compositor on X11, ideally on some DE that sabotaged X11 to cripple performance and remove features that always worked and have always been there?
>stop using a server protocol
that means giving up X11 forwarding and all the other features, not having any consistency, having 200 implementations of the same raisin, with each one doing everything differently, and most of them not even supporting basic features (like key remapping or custom modelines, especially with interlacing)
>more monitors are aryan
i have 3 CRTs at my desk for my docked thinkpad, but only use 1 most of the time, i use a tiling WM so i don't really have a need for more monitors
>watching videos outside of fullscreen
you are a lunatic
>chromium webnigger standards
99% of all websites work fine in webkit, plus soydevs don't dare to use some new fancy standard that isn't supported by webkit, since it would break their precious safari garbage on their 8000$ fagbook toys
also, surf has a keybind to disable JS by default (CTRL SHIFT S), if you're worried about vulnerabilities just toggle JS with keybinds (you can set it to be disabled by default too, not just when you manually turn it off)

 β„–10258[Quote]

>>10256
>novideo being incompetent niggers who can't write drivers
trvkenuke but CUDA is a gem, and yeah i know nvidia-open isn't really that "open" but ill take it
>used a compositor on X11 on some DE
no i just used picom and bspwm or was it xmonad? don't know don't care that much
>not having any consistenecy
at the cost of an easier setup?? sure why not
>200 implementations of the same raisin each one doing everything differently
albeit you're right but that means i can just use whatever works or make my own
>you are a lunatic
grass is green
>safari still uses webkit
KEEEEEEEEEEEEK i thought fagple replaced it with their in house raisin already
>keybind to disable JS
now im interested

 β„–10259[Quote]

>>10258
>picom
found your problem, compositors are raisin but picom takes the crown for wasted performance and breaking random raisin
>easier setup
its painful to set up if you are switching WMs, on X11 you can just edit 1 line in your .xinitrc, copypaste your wm keybinds into your other wm's config, and you're done. all your scripts and other stuff will just work fine
>i use whatever works and make my own
except its incredibly painful to work with gayland and write a wm, or "compositor"
take a look at dwm and dwl if you want to compare them, and i think dwl didn't even implement gayland on its own, instead relying on broken wlroots crap.
>i thought crapple replaced it with their inhouse raisin
webkit IS apple's inhouse raisin, they did most of webkits development
>now i'm interested
go read the link in >>10244 if you want some other neat things like tab support with tabbed (not letting your wm handle it), scripts to xdg-open stuff when you hold down some key (i.e. CTRL), adblocking, and whatnot
whatever you want to do, you can easily implement it if you know a bit of C or bash.
i implemented search engines with bash and dmenu, bookmarks and cookies are saved in text files, you get hotkeys for search engines, and just edit scripts to make raisin work, its very handy but lacks fancy features like builtin botnet AI translation crap, and proper clipboard copypaste keybind support (^C, i need to fix this in webkit itself i guess)

Brave on Android mobile (best browsing experience and no ads; somehow jewtube managed to make their jewtube app itself worse than the tabbed brave experience on mobile)
Firefox on Linux (for non-work related browsing; Firefox is hyper optimized for linux and still has all the ad blocking add-ons)
Chrome on Linux (for work; some work related extensions are only available for chrome)
Chrome on Windows (if I ever use Windows then chrome it is because it's hyper optimized for Windows)
