There's so many distro options OP, why pick something that is based on ubuntu?

it works ok, prob best just to install kubuntu if you absolutely need ubuntu. personally i prefer debian kde but im currently using ubuntu w/ gnome because debian refused to install from usb (something with connecting to apt sources during install) on my old ass raisinbox. ubuntu didnt have that problem and i didnt like it at first (i hate gnome and have a dislike for ubuntu) but it hasnt crashed on me yet. usually wayland or the WM/DE crashes for me on debian due to my old raisinbox hardware ubuntu hasnt crashed on my yet and its been roughly a year so its grown on me.

Linux Mint Xfce is a much better choice than Xubuntu in the current year. The Mint team preconfigured the troublesome, unpolished Xfce into a familiar Windows style layout, and it includes all the best Mint Apps and Mint's famous Update Manager, without the Canonical Jewwear and Snaps that Xubuntu comes with.

just use debian xfce unless you're enjoying asking a canonical employee to fuck your wife instead of doing it yourself
