'teens i found a imac g3 and it boots all perfect and everything, something might be wrong with the flybase transformer but it mostly works. I am trying to get software on it. But i am having trouble getting that software on the machine
i cant download from the internet because the security protocols for the system are out of date
it cant read any usb drives formatted by today's systems.
i do not want to go through the task of burning everything on disks
how the hell do i get it to go online? at the very least download things from the terminal (I used curl and it just throws a error (curl: (35) error:1407742E:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:tlsv1 alert protocol version))

Figure out how to use OpenFirmware and boot a BSD on it, they still support the old PPC macs

>Why would i run bsd?
because it runs modern software and gets updates

set up an FTP server, it's horribly insecure but for your purposes who cares and you have no root certs anyways
also it's not modern computers it can't read, just modern Windows ones, try a fat32 MBR USB and if that doesn't work and you don't have a modern mac you're SOL, cause only macs can write old apple partition table

don't set up. it will get hacked almost immediately

An FTP server isn't going to get hacked if it's behind a password. It's just that the protocol is unencrypted, so anyone with a wiretap can listen in on it.

cant i just set this up over a local network so that nobody can use it except computer connected to my network?
>>27939
ive got modern macs at my disposal, ill have to try this

yes, set it on a LAN and don't forward ports
As for the modern mac thing, you'll either want HFS or Fat32, but the reason old PPC macs are like that is because the new machines run GPT and are backwards compatible with MBR, but APM partitioning is something of the classic mac era that stuck around for ppc just long enough to be enshrined in OSX, where you can read it today. With a modern Mac you gotta go through disk utility and format the drive Apple Partition Map and HFS filesystem to get that old stuff to work.

excellent, ill get to it next time im around the damn machine, its in possession of a family member, but he said he'll give it to me if i want it
