I'm still troubleshooting an intermittent error on windows where data doesn't always like to load nicely at least on my setup. But with windows (or linux):

>download the files from gitgud and extract into a folder
>install node.js.
>open command prompt inside the folder and type:
>npm install
then to tun it:
>npm start

Hopefully can get the executable version working for windows users so this won't be necessary.
Also I realized I can probably add a setup.bat and run.bat file so windows users can click to start without having to use console commands.

I just fixed up a bunch of performance stuff so it should be much more smooth and stable now, probably next should focus on making the install process as easy as possible.
