Is that age old enough to handle it? This is essentially tell the child, at an age where they are starting to understand the world, that what they have been told is a lie.

I would be more inclined to wait until they are fully prepared to face the world, to start off on their own, THEN explain the family dynamic to them, that i may not be able to donate blood or organs if they need them.

They are YOUR kid, YOU adopted them. Unless you KNOW what the birth parents situation is, you should also let them know that no child consents to being born, and that some people will sacrifice EVERYTHING for their children, even their relationship. At the same time we also don't want to be hunting down demons from the past. Some people are so horrible that the state intervenes.

It's a hard moral topic. We gloss over it, and then there are the baby brokers too. But those are for pizzagate threads. Guatemala has a problem with that.

It's not an easy question, and it depends on the strength of the child. Remember that the purpose of the parent is to make sure the child is strong enough to stand on their won. We can't shelter them forever, but we should NOT be knocking them down.

at 16, they will be struggling with the teenage years, trying to figure out what to be when they grow up, trying to finish high school, trying to NOT get a girl pregnant, trying to stay out of jail, and all sorts of teenage problems.

Granted, the strength of the child varies from child to child too. They may have also figured things out too. I have to say, err on the side of protecting the child.

I grew up knowing I was adopted the whole time. I never really thought much of it, but I was also pretty much a single child because my youngest "sibling" is sixteen years older than me, so maybe if we were closer in age and fought they'd say adopting me was bad etc. because kids say stuff like that.
The only negative thing is that my "father" acts like spending a bunch of money to adopt me and raise was some sort of big deal that changed my life, but that's more because he's fucked up in the head.

As soon as they ask, if not earlier. I never understood why being adopted was seen as a bad thing. It just means that your parents thought about having a child and had the means to cover adoption fees to choose you. There's probably more thought and energy put into adopting a child than 90% of other kids out there. When you're adopted, you can be certain you weren't a mistake or accident.

i like this post in particular
>When you're adopted, you can be certain you weren't a mistake or accident.
particularly like this thought. YOU chose to have them. its not a bad thing if they were adopted, it just means that YOU were chosen out of the millions of kids.
