Is it worth learning russian to read the books?

Really enjoyed them, played exodus first, then read 2034 and 2035, then played 2033 and last light and I'm half way 2033 book buuuut I'm busy so I probably won't finish it yet.
Really enjoyed the series so far, really fun but also deep and good lore.

>>98065 (OP)i played metro exodus and it was peak for the most part
EXCEPT FOR THAT ONE PART THAT KEPT CRASHING IN THE DESERT LEVEL. otherwise its kino

I have steered clear because of critiques around "spazzy movement" enemies. I hate FO4 ghouls for that reason. Don't need more.

books: 2033 was very good, 2034 was meh, haven't read '35
games: all kino

I actually liked them and got into stalker.

>>100297Give 2035 a try, is sorta the plot of exodus but in another tone. I read them out of order (2034, 2035 and currently reading 2033) and it was WAY better and it actually is interesting unlike the adventures of grandpa and little girl of 2034.

>>98065 (OP)all games are great but 2033 and last light are better than exodus imo. exodus should've been spread out over two games, the first chapter is a hurried, exposition-filled mess. but the ending is so kino that it makes up for it. the themes of the game are great, regarding family and self sacrifice

Not a real video game basically overglorified movie
â100513[Quote]
I only beat 2033, gonna have to start Last Light sometime soon
â100606[Quote]
>>100497Personally I didn't like last light that much, I think the focus of "saving humanity" of 1 Is more interesting than "person vs person"
Also I didn't like the final stretch of the game. The final stretch of 2033 (I'd say library-tower or D-6 to Tower) is one of my most memorable gaming segments, and I think last light kinda fell flat. I was expecting a full on battle across all the d-6 not just fighting the commies in one of the fronts :|

>>100511Is Bioshock a glorified movie? because it's very similar to how Metro is played.

stalker but more linear and less fun

>>98728I enjoyed 2033 in English.

pure kino

>>100288Spazzy? Nah, they're agile. It's not like Ghouls, more like a hunting leopard.
Human enemies aren't spazzy. The gun play is not like FO4, way more stealth oriented.

I think the plot length works with the "open world segments" and the "bullet hell" like difficulty level. You could easily spend like 40 hours on the average metro game. But once again I'm not a "real gamer" despite my sonichu levels being over 9000. I liked some JRPGs in Highschool but I never took gaming "seriously" or was arguably ever particularly good at it. So my opinion might be from that. But the open world or exploration segments are definetely breathy if you're not speedrunning it and the difficulty is high enough so that I think you can still sink your teeth into it if needed.

>>98065 (OP)Grrat games. I played them all and I loved them.
