its a real genre but most of the mainstream bands calling themselves "metalcore" nowadays SUCK and have basically next to nothing in common with real metalcore. i love real metalcore though, probably my favorite genre ever

lamb of god are awesome. were my favorite band at one point.
β96432[Quote]
Are Lamb of God really metalcore though? Where is the core? Solid band though.
β96433[Quote]
>>96429>>96429i watched a documentary about lamb of god, and they have a large fanbase in south and central america. are you one of "those people"??
β96434[Quote]
>Are Lamb of God really metalcore though? Where is the core? Solid band though.
their later stuff is barely core influenced but if you listen to their first few albums and especially their burn the priest era stuff (which is basically 90s deathcore) you'll hear it

not really imo, ATBP and even ashes were solidly core influenced. after ashes the core influence is a bit less apparent tbf

They sound too American for my Euro ass, for instance, but technically they're solid, yeah.
β96449[Quote]
>>96445fair. as an euro myself i always liked amerimutt metal more. idk. i like my dumb caveman grooves. the fact that nwoahm stuff is downstream of 90s metallic hardcore helps
β96470[Quote]

>>96489dude i LOVE tony danza. amazing band. best djent band to ever do it that's not meshuggah
β96521[Quote]
>>96492Their first two albums were really good. I wouldn't call danza "djent". They were always mathcore but I'll admit some songs in those albums were THALL as fuck. The third + fourth were djent inspired for sure because Josh Travis worked on them.
I like Josh Travis's other works a lot as you can tell but the first two Danzas were more inspired by bands like Botch and Converge, less Meshuggah.
Really sad they ended the project. Danza was the Norma Jean cockroach of mathcore for a long while.
β96523[Quote]
>>96521you heard about them reuniting? i hope they make some new material, but for now i guess we'll have to make due with look at yourself era emmure (which i liked a lot btw but i am a huge emmure apologist)
β96531[Quote]
>>96523Damn they're actually doing it. Furnace Fest this year. I've heard of every single band on that lineup. Quite sick.
Not really a huge fan of the new Emmure stuff but it's ok.
Josh Travis project fans have been eating real good lately since he uploaded a ton of old Knives songs last year.

Melodic metalcore is entirely garbage. Not a single good release in the entire subgenre. If you like it, you are a faggot. I do enjoy 90s / early 2000s era metalcore and there have been some newer metalcore bands like kruelty, thrown and final resting place that are pretty gud.
β97219[Quote]
>>97121>>97121a lot of the melodeath adjacent stuff is really cool and i have a special place in my heart for bullet for my valentine and similar bands. melodic metalcore absolutely clears arenacore tbh
