how difficult would it for someone who only knows heuristics and has never played a full game to get decent enough to play in one of these tournaments?

That was more moves than I expected. Very pretty like you said

cool to see /chess/ here (and not have to wait for a 15 min captcha)

theres a decent mix of skill levels, some are around 1000-1300 which is pretty close to beginner level
shouldnt take long to get there

Anyone know why I can go almost even in win/loss/draw vs players significantly above my rating but then lose constantly to players way below my rating?
Seems like maybe I respect my opponents too much and jump at shadows/fail to see the flaws in my opponents moves. Against a stronger player this is mostly fine but against a weaker player it lets them get away with nonsense
Maybe just cope though

en passant with double discovered check is so satisfying to me

everyone is welcome all you need is to make a lichess account,as for if you can win or draw a game it will take some practice how much depends of how much aptitude you have for chess everyone has different floors, try playing a few 10 minute games on either site and see where you land
lichess is objectively the better site but it starts everyone at 1500 so be aware you would have to get destroyed a few times to get to beginner ratings, on chess.com you can choose to start at 400, once you can maintain 1000 on lichess or 600 on .com you should have a fighting chance with our weaker players

Hi /chess/ friends. Chessnetwork posted a rapid video vs. a 2300 (a welcome change from the usual sub-2k fare)
