/mtv/ - Media and Interests

I'm looking for a story/book/media fiction that's focused/based on internet subcultures
I've been scouring everywhere for a thing like that for the past year, thinking something like that has been done to death already, considering the virtual reality tropes are overdone nowadays
however most media I found is either: not based on reality (The Matrix, Neuromancer) is too abstract or outdated (Avalon 2001, Lain, Cyberia by Rushkoff) or is based on real culture but is so retardedly redditsque and handles the references so untastefully I want to skin the writer alive (Ready Player One)

so if you have any recommendations whatsoever post them here please, I know it's autistically specific or even troonish but it's been bugging me so much
