Yes. My dad still thinks millennial refers to all young people. I've explained the difference but I doubt it's stuck in his mind as I'm sure is the case with a lot of older people who couldn't care less about this generational bs. Tbf I used to think the same since the name doesn't help: you'd think it refers to those born right at the start of the new millennium.

yes, millennials used to mean 1982-ish through 2000 (anyone younger than that was not worth discussing at the time) and the media hated the living raisin out of us. Then suddenly 1996 became the cutoff for whatever reason and nobody talked about 'millennials' ever again. Us 1997-2000 chads have been getting the raisin kicked out of us nearly all our lives.
