I think they are decent rifles, definite improvement over commie AKs. Not enough for me to buy one, but I can appreciate them. I would buy a Valmet or a Vecktor if I ever saw one at a sane price. The Valmet because it is closer to the AK, the Vektor because it is more refined.
The Galil kind of strikes me as a middle child. Perfectly serviceable though.

They're average. I've built an ARM and a SAR clone.
They go together pretty easy and shoot about how you would expect, like a 5.56 AK.
Receivers cost a lot and I can only imagine kits cost more now.
They really were more of an export than for domestic use.
South Africa loved them because well, they were probably the best option for a country under embargo by most.
My SAR kit came from somewhere in South America I believe, while my ARM was definitely israeli
