Who is /fat/ for?
For Belligerent Biggers working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?

1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?

Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T

Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

All right, lads, in the spirit of change, and the many changes for the better that have come to this general through updated features, i think it's time to change our link in the sticky. For gyno and loose skin there because it is wildly outdated. That said what takes its place?

Not even that i'm a real old fag or anything like that whatsoever but I swear i've never seen that level of dedication, still posting someone for years and years after the fact, just because they pissed you off so much. And what did she do? She kept insisting that she was losing weight, but she refused to step on a scale. She refused to track calories. She refused to use a tape measure. And when you kept looking at pictures that she posted, nothing had changed at all. So she started saying sge was a powerlifter and having irl sex with aome guy off fit /plg/. That's it. All she did really was insult everything that fit really stood for in terms of making progress. Yeah that's raisinty and it's annoying but worth years of spam? Nah.

I was on a day trip to Leipzig yesterday, and must confess I did eat way too much fast food at the train station while waiting for my train home to arrive. Kicking myself for it now because I had worked up such a great deficit by walking through the city in the morning, having sex around noon, and going on a 3 hour hike through the greenery on the outskirts of the city, vidrelated.

We'll have to re-write the fatty contest software to work with this board. If FattyJr. doesn't feel like it, I'm a decent programmer and could whip something up in a day or two. Thing is that the sharty uses cloudflare faggotry which is sometimes hard to reliably get around. On my phone right now, when I'm back at my PC I'll check if they have some kind of API that can be used to get the thread's text data.

>>5998

I agree, problem is the only things that actually seem to work to prevent loose skin are good nutrition and fasting, and that'll bring the paid CICO shills out of the woodwork.

I was 140kg at the start of February and am down to 124kg. I've been fasting since I heard that autophagy kicks in past 24 hours and supposedly helps mitigate loose skin and usually go for 48-50ish hours in-between. Am I losing too fast or is this expected weight loss for someone that started at 140?

 β„–15338[Quote]

>>15265
You lost 3 lbs per week, which is generally considered the maximum rate of weight loss you should aim for at that level, although at that level, really the faster you lose weight the better. At a lower weight it is (((recommended))) that you lose weight more slowly because the severe caloric restriction required at that level can cause nutritional deficiencies, especially if you've been on the grind for a long time, but that is really only relevant to people who can see their ribs.
You've been eating about 1200 calories per day, and hypothetically, if you ate absolutely 0 calories, your maximum rate of weight loss is about 5.2-5.8 lbs/week, and if you hadn't eaten a single bite for the last 3 months straight, you would only weight about 13kg less. You're doing very, very well and I think you are reaching your full potential right now, anything more really isn't sustainable and going any slower is just wasting time.

>>15265
not sure I understand your post correctly, but if you're doing 48 hour fasts back to back then your rate of fat loss is about what is to be expected, and since you have plenty of fat cells your body shouldn't need to break down all that much muscle mass for fuel. But still make sure you do resistance training, and eat plenty of protons and micronootrients on your refeed days.

I dropped about 90lbs (40kg) in 4 months doing this hybrid Keto diet, no loose skin. I got all the way down to 165lb (75kg).

just be warned, you will be shedding muscle mass along with all the fat, and be prepared for the rebound at the bottom. As I said, I got down to 165lb but bounced back to 175lb over the next 2 months when I returned to a normal diet (carbs and water weight). and I'm back up to 185lbs after returning to a lifting routine

I'm really not sure how much fasting actually helps with loose skin, because up front it doesn't exactly make sense why your body would start consuming that skin. It goes for fat and muscle, you don't start eating your organs when you're doing extreme fasting they just shut down because they're not getting nutrients or energy, and your skin is just a giant organ, it can either heal or it can't. Genetics and damage extent. I have seen some people actually tighten their loose skin back up, but that just seems to be because they put on a lot more muscle mass and they did get lean, which probably just gave their body some kind of boost to tighten up and increase collagen production. And genetics plus damage level. Remember, we still don't really have much research on consuming collagen as a supplement, we don't know how much, what type, how long, or any of the important details that could make it an effective supplement if it actually is one. Fasting is great for fat oss and it can lead to muscle loss if you're playing risky.
>>15358
Your body goes to its muscles as a last resort for energy, but also for protein. You don't just use proteins for building muscle, you also use it to just repair every part of your body, so if you go long enough without any dietary protein or very minimal protein then yes, you're going to start burning your muscle mass to start healing the rest of your body. It's part of why we give tge elderly ensures and those juice style protein products, so they can better heal.

juggling practice was fun today, managed to qualify 3 clubs for the first time (i.e. throw and catch them more than 6 times).

What got my heart rate into the 170s in picrelated was jogging at a decent speed while juggling 3 balls.

My 4-ball fountain too is getting to the point where I can at times keep it going long enough so I have to stop due to physical exhaustion rather than due to fumbling and dropping a ball.

Definitely a lot more addictive than my weekly swimming practice, where I usually get bored after 20 minutes and then have force myself to do 10-15 minutes more.

I've tried doing it on my own and I always failed because I didn't actually know anything about nutrition. I didn't know what I didn't know to ask seeing other people ask questions I hadn't even thought to ask was so helpful, especially in a place that wasn't censored to all hell like Reddit, or a place where you just couldn't go into a hard restriction, or they'd tell you not to exercise, you couldn't just call someone a retard or a liar, you couldn't tell someone that there being a complete dipraisin. Here I had people call me a dipraisin I had people call me a fucking retard, a fat ass not gonna make it. And I needed that. I needed someone to tell me that for just starting out jump rope was a terrible idea because I was going to burn myself out and I was gonna make myself so hungry I would end up overeating. I needed someone to tell me yeah, it was time to start actual cardio training and not just walking because I was making excuses not to be better. The relief of having somewhere to talk about weight loss and all of the things surrounding it without being accused of having an eating disorder… And the few times someone would pop in and say guys this is eating disorder behavior your guys are anorexic, the amount of replies saying that that was just complete fucking nonsense and we were all obese anyway and could afford to starve a little bit was such a relief. Posting body the first time and being told I was so disgusting. No one should ever have to see that s* again was enough for me to say, d*They're right.I'm tired of looking at it too.I will succeed this time. Posting body later and getting "okay I mean, that's a lot better, but you better not think you're done. You're far from done." Fuck I needed that. Something about the anonymous support just also makes it better. I can recognize quite a few posters by how they type, I recognize their body pictures. I recognize every once in a while when they namefag. Anonymous good friends. I can't fucking post my almost naked body on Facebook or raisin like that. No one in my actual life really knows what they're doing for any type of fitness, weight loss any of that. Nor could they help me, nor could they understand, nor did they want to see that raisin. Sure, they'd laugh at me and call me fat. But as soon as I started losing weight, they started calling me anorexic and saying that I shouldn't be doing what I was doing, and that I was a bad influence on younger family members.

But 100% agree. Every other community is such a fucking hugbox, but /fat/ will tell it like it is

Well said.
Criticism is vastly more important than kind words and positivity. How the hell are you supposed to change if nobody ever tells you what you're doing wrong?
