I'm not one of those artsy contrived tv show nerds, 25 and 26 are an objective waste of time and throw away the 24 episodes of story and worldbuilding that I just wasted my time watching
I liked 1-24 too which makes that crummy ending more annoying

It had the same issue of often forgetting about the plot and just yammering about irrelavent stuff near the end and made the character I cared the least about somehow the most "important" character but only at the last 20 minutes
The vibe I get from NGE is decent beginning and middle but will consistently raisin the bed near the end as some kind of twist but I'm not invested enough to be shocked and puzzled but too invested to uncaringly throw away the worldbuilding that 95% of the show built
Apparently the rebuild things fix this but people also said NGE + EOE are the best shows on this earth so eh
