The setup for the story is inevitably leading to a time skip back to the time when the apocalypse first began to try to stop the planet from succumbing to the demons

The game, like all hoyo games, are made to be consumed by younger adults as well so they are a bit tame when it comes to some of the themes. Although the game surprises you when it hits you like a lead brick with certain violent scenes as well as extremely depressing stories. The game, in EN, does have a bit of verbose writing that does the voice acting a bit of a disservice. Most of the writing of the game feels like something you'd get in a novel rather than natural spoken dialogue. If I had any criticism of the game, it would be that above all.
Of course theyre getting better since the last patch had the best voiced and written characted Hugo.
