Keep rolling until you get unlock the "Wishlist", then choose Blanc and Noir (the Tetra bunny twins), Liter the construction worker with a robot dog, and Red Hood and Rapi: Red Hood for the Pilgrims/Overspec units because they're all meta. Once you have that team, you can do most of the content outside of Arena PVP raisin.
Some other nikkers that are meta:
Missilis: Tia and Naga (they go together), the new Mihara for an attacker, Jackal for super-fast burst generation (really good in PVP, and in story).
Elysion: Helm (attacker that can heal with her burst), and Marciana (heals passively and with her burst too), and D: Killer Wife (buffs pierce damage units like Red Hood).
Pilgrim: Crown (good support + defender, combos with Naga better than Tia technically, but Pilgrims are harder to get), Scarlet (PVP god and decent in story too), Scarlet: Black Shadow (not as good in PVP, but wreks everything else).
Pic is somewhat outdated (newer ones not shown) but the units listed are all pretty much in the same tier still.
