from my knowledge, logistics would be a pain. also the core training is vastly different, an airman would not need the same training as a marine rifleman

There is no benefit to that degree of cross training. It's easier and more cost effective to make things stupid proof with directions in 5 languages. Some privates up to leutenants never attain human level of exisence.
