Bloodivores. It's an adaptation of some Chinese comic, I think. Protagonist was a vampire who could control his own gravity, he got sent to a concentration camp for vampires, and had to survive against monsters that specifically prey on vampires. One of the other characters was a vampire who could summon fully-crafted katanas (just katanas, no other weapons) from his body, and I think he was an antagonist.
My first mistake was sticking with the show after episode 1, when the opening theme changed from Japanese to Chinese. My second mistake was not dropping it after episode 3, where it went from a decent concept to full on trash. My final mistake was thinking it would be the fun kind of trash, when it was actually the trash kind of trash.

I did say they scrapped the fairytale characters from the story that are actually the most influential and important leaders of their races. And the theme of what being human even is. For squad 13, who don’t know anything this tragic couple experienced, including children (Zero Two, Nine Alpha) that taken after them. That’s why you see Zero Two going to the “I gotta be human to be with darling” arc when Nine Alpha does “I gotta be with this strange small chick” the moment he saw Ichigo and kisses her hand as the prince (his father) does in the picture book. And that’s set up before the picture book was revealed, as you can see here.
Seriously, that one missing mysterious factor is why no Franxx fix fic could fix the story. The foundation for this world and its characters and its theme is completely lost by sudden stupid retcons. It’s like having One Piece without the void century and JoyBoy. The story would be completely broken if they were ever removed from the plot for anything else. Turn Imu and the corpse I into Trigger aliens, Joy Boy into an anti-alien plot device for the main characters to exploit, and the one piece into a space ship meant to destroy the aliens. Now you get finalized Franxx.
